Description of William C. Placher, author of Readings in the History of Christian Theology:

Readings in the History of Christian Theology, VOLUME 2 From the Reformation to the Present. In Readings in the History of Christian Theology VOLUME William C. Placher begins with a decisive transition, the Reformation of the sixteenth century, and opens with an exerpt from Martin Luther's THE FREEDOM OF A CHRISTIAN. From the sixteenth century into the twentieth, he presents significant selections from works of the principal Protestant and Catholic thinkers, including present-day writers such as Gustavo Gutierrez and Rosemary Radford Ruether. Quoted passages are accompanied by Placher's illuminating introductions. The volume, therefore, stands alone as a theological resource, or it can be used to supplement a narrative work such as William Placher's own A HISTORY OF CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY: AN INTRODUCTION (#44963). Placher adopts an ecumenical approach, representing diverse traditions. Bibliographies enhance the value of this work as a theological resource. VOLUMES 1 of this item is #40577
