Description of Prayer Evangelism:
As a result of the growing worldwide prayer movement, powerful changes have taken place in the Church and in scattered cities-transformations beyond anything imaginable only a few years ago. Of the revelations to come out of this movement, perhaps the most dramatic and promising is the rediscovery of biblical principles for changing the spiritual climate over entire cities and regions. Fulfillment of the Great Commission is no longer a distant hope but, rather, is a fast-approaching reality for a Church that will take hold of and utilize the biblical principles for changing cities as described in Prayer Evangelism. In it Ed Silvoso shares his heart and his passion for reaching cities the way the Early Church did it: the whole Church modeling the whole gospel to the whole city through prayer and prayerful evangelism.
About Ed Silvoso:
Ed Silvoso is the founder and president of Harvest Evangelism, Inc. A native of Argentina, he is widely recognized as a teacher on evangelism, restoration and Church unity. The author of two books, That None Should Perish and Prayer Evangelism, Silvoso also has extensive experience as a family counselor. He and his wife, Ruth, reside in San Jose, California.
Description of Ed Silvoso, author of Prayer Evangelism:
There is little doubt that the general atmosphere of many cities, particularly, but not exclusively, in the United States, is not conducive to evangelism. It is also clear that evangelistic efforts will likely produce little or no fruit until the atmosphere is conducive to evangelism. But how can this atmosphere be changed (assuming, first and foremost, that it can indeed be changed)?Ed Silvoso has an answer: Prayer Evangelism. Just what is Prayer Evangelism? It is "talking to God about our neighbors before we talk to our neighbors about God." Its that simple. And according to Silvoso (and Jesus in Luke 10), there are four easy steps to take to engage in Prayer Evangelism for our neighbors (wherever they may be found):Speak peace to them.Fellowship with them.Take care of their needs.Proclaim the good news.Silvoso feels that the church has largely failed in its evangelistic efforts because it has not taken all four steps in the proper order. The first step, speaking peace, opens the door for fellowship, from which needs will be revealed, which gives God a chance to prove Himself to them. Will God respond? Will He prove Himself? Silvoso emphatically answers yes, based on his study of John 14:13-14, where Jesus says "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it." What does it mean that the Father will be glorified in the Son when the Son answers prayers? In Silvoso's words, "unbelievers will come to the Father through Jesus when they have been convinced of His divinity by a miracle." Why does he make this connection? Because of John 14:11, where Jesus says to Philip, "Philip, if you do not believe in me by my words, believe in me by my works. Let my miracles prove to you that I am who I say." (Silvoso's translation). Its one thing to say that this four-step program works. It is another to prove that it does. But Silvoso can do just that, for he has numerous stories which show the effectiveness and power of this simple method. And the support he has received from major Christian leaders like Peter Wagner, Jack Hayford, Tommy Tenney and others, gives even more weight to his story (to see what those leaders say about this book, click the more info button). This book will change your attitude about your city and the chances for its salvation. And if you implement Silvoso's biblically based plan, you will see changes in your city.
