Author Biography: John Ortberg is a teaching pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in Menlo Park, California. He previously served as a teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois, and is the author of Everybody's Normal Till You Get to Know Them; If You Want to Walk on Water,You've Got to Get Out of the Boat; The Life You've Always Wanted; and Love Beyond Reason. He has written for Christianity Today and is a frequent contributor to Leadership Journal.
Ruth Haley Barton is a spiritual director, teacher and retreat leader trained through the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation and the Pathways Center for Spiritual Leadership. She is co-founder of The Transforming Center and has served on the pastoral staff of several churches including Willow Creek Community Church as associate director of spiritual formation. Her published works include Invitation to Solitude and Silence: Experiencing God's Transforming Presence.
