Mooki the beaver lives in the forest with a lot of other critters, including Payton the Peacock, a cocky bird that makes everyone angry because he's always bragging. When all the critters get to ride in a parade and wear hats they have created themselves, Payton tells everyone that his will be the best. But disaster strikes - Payton starts molting and loses his wonderful feathers. Suddenly he looks awful and realizes he can't afford to boast. Mooki reassures Payton and comforts him, and when Mooki's own hat is ruined in a rainstorm, he and Payton retrieve the fallen peacock feathers and fashion a new hat for Mooki for the parade. Payton is humbled by the whole experience and learns a lesson about pride and friendship that he'll never forget.
