Description of Edward Pearse, author of A Beam of Divine Glory:
Jonathan Edwards wrote that it was this attribute of God's, His immutability, His unchageableness, that made sinners hate Him so intensley; for God is holy, and He will always be holy. He will never change from what he has been. He never lowers His standards. And according to Edwards, that fact both terrified and angered the impenitent. In this scarce Puritan work, Edwards Pearse (1633-1673) shows that this same attribute should be of the utmost comfort to believers. If God has accepted us in His Son, the Beloved, then His love for us will not, indeed, cannot change.
